Default cost of dealer service

i had posted that i got the 15k service done at santa monica honda... got several emails and pms from folks here who paid much different amounts for the same service. one suggested that i start a thread to ask:

1. how much did you pay for your dealer service?

2. which dealer?

3. which service (#miles)?

my answers:
1. $200 (i already know that some paid more and some paid half!)
2. santa monica honda
3. 15k service

Wantabe,

I don't follow the manufacture's scheduled service. My thought is it's a scam to suck money out of the customers wallet. At 15,000 they "inspect" lot's of things that I can check myself, and change the oil. I change the oil every 3,000 miles.

Hope this helps,

RHES2K

i have changed the oil myself too (by the way c3- need to add the crush washer to your list!!)-
was thinking that i should at least have the major services done by the dealer for warranty purposes...
so far looks like santa monica is double the others 15k service price. interesting that there would be such a big difference.

Like RHES2K said, the 15,000 mile service is nothing more than an oil/filter change and an "inspection" of other components. If you pay for more than the oil change you are getting ripped off.

This is from Honda Ownerlink for the 15K serice:

Services to be performed: Replace engine oil.
Replace engine oil and filter.
Inspect front and rear brakes.
Replace engine oil filter.
Check parking brake adjustment.
Inspect tie-rod ends, steering gearbox and rack boots.
Inspect suspension components.
Inspect driveshaft boots.
Inspect brake hoses and lines (including ABS).
Check all fluid levels, condition of fluids and check for leaks.
Inspect cooling system hoses and connections.
#Inspect exhaust system.
#Inspect fuel lines and connections.
