Default Cost of transporting your S2000

Just wondering if anyone have experiences in transporting your S2000 cross country. There's a chance that I will be moving from California to Texas in the next few months. I'd like to know the approx. cost, method and time.

Someone said that transporting by rail in a closed box car is probably the best way...I just don't know about the cost.

Also, for those who has done this, please post the quality of service. All I care about is that they take my S from point A to point B without ANY damages.

Thanks.

There are plenty of places that will give you a free quote on the internet. I checked prices from middle Georgia to Ogden, Utah and the cheapest quote was $700.

There are companies in the business to do this, I don't know about the whole train thing. I researched it a while back and got a quote of $450 to go from Texas to Florida. I just searched the web for "auto" and "transport".

Thanks guys, I've just called a few places and they will be getting back to me with a quote. I just found that the price of transporting my car in a closed truck is double that of the opened one. It's probably due to how many cars they can fit.

Aside from just regular dirt and grime that can collect in an opened car...what are the other negative factors. I would assume that rock chips would not be a big issue because that front end of the truck would get all of it.

Any suggestions from those who have actually used these types of services would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I remember someone who asked the same question awhile ago. They came to figure 1 dollar per mile. Don't quote me on that but I am almost positive. Good luck.

I have a friend that runs a shipping company. He said that haul would cost $1000 in an enclosed trailer. If interested please PM me.

I have transported mine with Horseless Carriage, Tampa to Austin (1150 miles), cost $950. My car shared space with a 360, 2 Lotus Elise, a 911 Carrera 4, and a Vette. This company also does all the transport for the Ferrari Challenge. My car arrived at my new home faster than my furniture did, and without a scratch.

You might also try Intercity Lines. I called them first, but they couldn't schedule me in when I needed to go.

I used these guys and they were great.... It's your car an one other in an enclosed trailer. From Erie PA to Tracy Ca. in three 1/2 days. Was worth every cent. The owners are way cool....

The problem with multiple cars on top of each other is that not all the cars are new and may be old classics with oil and other leeks to drop on top of your car....

$400.00 dollars from penske trucks for truck and trailer from San Antonio to California. 6 Days, Unlimited miles included.

Used OEM cover for paint protection and WATERPROOF Cover for rain protection. Car was perfect when it arrived.
