Default Costco damaged the paint.

So.. I had my tires installed @ Costco last night and this happened

Upon finding out, they are still denying the incident but I know what is on my car as I had this car detailed 2 days ago and it's been sitting in the garage since then. Any idea if the damage can be fixed? The paint on it is not smooth but rather has bumps underneath.

Also, it would be great if anyone can chime in about the whole claim process as this is my first time going through Costco with a claim like this.

I would go back to the Costco that installed the tires and see if the lift they used "could" do the damage you see under the car. If it can then you go forward with a claim. As for the bumps on the lower paint my '06 has the same bumpy paint.

Oh, that would piss me off like hell.

Maybe you could ask them to run the tape, maybe their security camera captured how the accident happened?

Id suggest ordering a spray can of touch up paint and fixing it yourself. Doubt itll be noticeable.

i love rubberized rocker guard. I eat it for breakfast. It does a great job at protecting the underside and covering up things like that.

I'd first prep the area, tape it off, prime if any metal is showing, shoot it with the undercoating, prime that then spray with colour. It won't be too noticeable.

And he can fix his car with the MONEY he gets from Costco for the damage.Don't settle for the damage. They damaged your vehicle and they need to make it right.

A few years ago a Honda dealer damaged all 4 rims on my S installing new tires. Each rim (all without any curb marks) had scratches around the lip due to the tire machine not being set right. They did not want to admit it and did not want to fix it the right way. I sued the dealer and all of a sudden, after getting the subpoena, they bent over backwards to pay for 4 new wheels.

DON'T settle for less than what is right.

Once you leave the parking lot it is your word over theirs. You need to understand there are people who will claim things like this even though it was their fault. Buy a dash cam or something which would record a scrapping or a thump when the service person was driving your car.

My S2000 needs to be raised off the ground in order for the arms of all the hoists in my shop to fit under it.... Taking your car to costco probably wasn't a good life decision... Likely hood of getting them to come clean for damage to rocker panels is going to be slim to none

Must be a difference in Costco locations. I checked out our local one (One of the highest grossing locations in US) in Folsom and was impressed with the state of the art equipment. I bought some Pilot SS ($70 coupon) and had them installed. I was impressed with the care they had for the car, and how they had integrated a quality control process at every point in the install. They documented the slightest blemish and went over it with me before the install. Again they went over everything at the end. The equipment they had did not make contact with the rims so avoid scratches. Could not have been happier and I am a big fan of Americas Tire Store.

My region isn't deemed large enough for costco to bother with us, so we don't even have a location here... But I would assume with their large size and emphasis on getting in and out (maybe with some food product samples along the way) that their service dept would be a forbidden place like Walmart

In any event though a place shouldn't be judged by their brand... Tools and equipment are only as good as the people who operate them
