Thumbs up CR spare tire delete kit

To get the somewhat equivalent of a CR spare tire delete kit on a non-CR S2000, couldn't you just remove the spare tire and throw a can of Fix A Flat which costs less than $5 into your trunk? The can easily fits into the middle of the standard tray. Why pay the $200+ that Honda charges?

Unless there is a lot more to the OEM kit than just a can of sealant, the tools that we already have, and a different tray. Is the OEM sealant of higher quality?

Also, are there cons to using these sealants other than the occasions where the sealants won't work? Like, would using the sealant damage the inside of the tire or mar the wheel finish?

according to the description on hardtopguy's website, there's a 12v air pump as part of the kit. can anyone w/ a CR comment on how this pump compares to something you can get at sears/home depot?

but the tray is an extra charge for some reason...

Also, does the CR have a flat panel covering the hole where the spare protrudes out in the other non-CR models? Since I don't carry a spare in my MY03, I could do away with the bulging panel to increase my trunk space. Was wondering if the CR had a flat panel in its place, that we could use in non-CR S2000s.

No, the C/R has the same panel to cover the non-existent spare.

The CR is counterproductive as far as the sealant is concerned when it comes to the TPMS sensor. Sealants are known to jack up the sensor, but the CR has sealant to get you home in case of a flat. The manual states this fact, but goes on to describe the usage of the included sealant to fix a flat on a CR.
Anyone know if in fact the CR sealant will damage the TPMS sensor?

tpms sensors should be water proof. . i have changed out a few toyota tires that had fix a flat in them.. and the sensors still worked..

the accord hybrid also has an air compressor and sealant. it might be cheaper to get that one??

Do you think the sealant that's included in the CR kit is kinda like a unbranded Fix-A-Flat? Like how "Honda" oil is really Mobil with Honda branding on it.

I could probably just get a can of Fix A Flat and limp on over to a gas station for the air.

My spare will no longer fit over my rotors/calipers, so I bought the honda air compressor and I carry a radial tire plug kit. The air compressor from honda will fit in the squarish hole in the normal tool holder with the cover in place. I would rather keep the jack and be able to pull the tire and plug it properly in the case of a flat. I wouldn't want to have to clean all of the gunk off of my $500+ wheel if I used the fix-a-flat. In the past 20 years of having cars with soft performance tires, all of my tire issues have been nails, screws or something of that type. All were fixed with radial tire plugs.

The honda air compressor doesn't look exceptionally high quality, but it is very small and light.
