Default Is the CR worth it?

Well the title basically says it all. Is the CR worth the extra money or am I better off getting an 05 without the DBW? I plan on going turbo and having a beast as a car.

With no included soft top, it is absolutely not worth it to me, but I value the S as a convertible.

DBW isn't really an issue.
Look at the things that are different between the CR and the base model. Figure out if you plan on modding those things. If you plan on getting coilovers, race seats, etc., then no real point in getting a CR. I bought mine to have a new and competitive car for AS autocross (ie, I'm not changing much so I can stay in the rules).

My thoughts exactly. I go the S2 specifically because it has a drop top; for me, that's the most enjoyable part of driving it hard.

To Kevin: if the soft top is trivial to you, get a CR and turbo it. You'll have a mean and fast baby in your hands. Otherwise, my guess is that taking off the hard top will get old and impractical very, very quickly.

To me ... the no-soft-top thing is the biggest drawback of the CR

Otherwise ... I think it's an awesome car ... at least based on the CR parts I have on my S. I don't have a real CR

The thing with the CR is that it might hold it's value better in the long run. There are only so many CRs and I can see years from now it holding it's value b/c of it's rarity.

Really depends on what you are wanting to do with it. If you want a car to DD, probably not. If you want to use it for what it was designed to do - track, auto-x, mtn runs, sure.

This is how i look at it if u want to mod the hell out of it no way buy a CR why spend that much if ur moding it. But if u just want a car that is out of the box a great track car and only doing very few mods the CR is for u. I opted for the CR it was the same price as a new s2k and i love the interior/hardtop/exterior. And i don't want any big mods as of now i just wanted a car that was quick and good suspenson out of the box to keep factory warranty and value/reliablility. I figure there was only #127 of my color made in years to come this car will keep its value and be a colletor item as soon as its payed off i am going to get a DD and keep it for weekends and tracks only

and the same on the convertible thing--i wanted a car that would drop the top in a few seconds, not a car with a hardtop me and a friend can remove in the garage. for that reason, the CR isn't as good a DD convertible IMO.
