if you're going turbo, get a regular AP2/AP1

CRs are for the hardcore enthusiasts that don't mind keeping it stock and for collector's value. It's the last hardcore Honda from Japan that we'll see in a long time.

I personally would love to lift the suspension and dump it into my AP1
F20c engine here ... with CR suspension + AP2 headlights / tail lights + subframe + AP2 interior ... I love the S2000

i always thought the CR just looked pretty, probably not worth it if you're gonna tune. i always felt like since the cr comes with less options as the "base" then it should be worth less than the base. thats just my opinion.

No soft top = no good for me.

We get little rain showers here and there on what would normally be a bright sunny day... expect for those 10-30 minutes. No thanks.

IMO i like the hardtop. but i do agree that very simple if not few mods should be done on a cr. i only plan on doing the basic I/H/E with a reflash and maybe rims and brakes down the road. the cr was made for those who wanted a track car out of the box and that is what honda made. everything works on it and i love it. who cares if i need a friends help to go topless

hardtops are nice but going top down is even nicer. i think if i wanted to get a track car out of the box i'd shell out the money for an evo rather than the s2000 cr. don't get me wrong, i like the cr too i just dont feel its justified for what they're charging

I only browsed through the first few responses and I pretty much agree with them.

Personally, it is NOT worth it to me. I cannot deal with not having a softtop if I'm caught somewhere without the hardtop. In the looks department, I'm not too keen on the black hardtop, large lip, and wing. I already somewhat modified my 07's suspension, so that pretty much negates what the CR would have given me in that department as well. To me, it's pretty much the same car that's more expensive. I also need A/C and a radio since it's my daily driver (yes, it's an option, but it's more $).

While it's not an argument for 'value', I can see where the MSRP of the CR comes from. It is basically a stripped down S2K + factory hardtop, and it is cheaper than a base S2K + factory hardtop.

I can't see buying a CR (even at $28k) when I could buy a 2000 S2000, upgrade the car with what I want (with better than Honda parts too), and add a HT for $20k. I wouldn't feel so bad about any track damage either.

Since its not a serious track car (no OEM rollcage even), its basically a less useful S with some flair and a suspension package. Imo you can do better with aftermarket parts for the suspension and keep the top.
