Default Creaking Wheel

Hello Everyone

Have any of you had a creaking noise coming out of your right rear or either rear wheel? I pull on my emergency break and it does not change at all. It is pretty quite and not a constant sound, I can barely hear it if my air is set above three notches. I can't guess what it is from. I do notice a bit more brown dust in that wheel. I am going to swap out the pads to see if it helps, they are getting thin, a hair less than an eight inch left.

Thanks for your time and ideas
Patrick

Hi

Sorry, yes, the little lights that are next to the air speed setting, if there are three of them illuminated.

Thanks

That would be your "fan" speed. "Air" speed is an instrument on airplanes to tell the pilot how fast the plane is flying.

I don't have a guess for you because you lack so much detail that it is impossible to say what it is. You give no indication as to what the car is doing at the time. (No time to play 20 questions.) I only wanted you to clarify what you meant by "air speed" in case this gave a clue, but it doesn't.

Hello

Sorry for the lack of precision in my terminology.

For anyone else who might be interested or could help, it is noticable when I am rolling forward at low speeds ( 10 miles per hour and less ). It is a faint creaking kind of sound. Not a dragging sound like you might hear if the break pads were worn and the break pad metal was contacting the rotor.

Thanks again for any ideas you all might have.

Worn wheel bearing perhaps. Try to do the hub nut greasing and re-torque to the new setting of 220. If this makes it go away, then you may be looking wheel bearings at some time in the future.

Hello Everyone

Heres a quick update. I swapped the rear pads last night. When I had that side apart I noticed that the piston in that caliper was extended much further than the left side piston had been. I screwed it back flush with the housing and put the new pads in. It was perfect at first, but after about 15 minutes, the sound is back exactly as before. Time for a new caliper I am betting. I am going to look for a DIY on caliper replacement.

Please excuse any incorrect terminology that might be listed above.

Thanks
Patrick

This is not the 1st stuck caliper piston I've read about recently. Good catch.
