The longest trip I've done with the S is from New York City for the WTD 05 event. That was by far one of the best events ive ever went on and the drive was about 12-14 hours. I definately don't mind the long drives as long as you get some rest in between. But to each his own.

I personally love driving, so it wouldn't be a problem for me. I've done roadtrips from CA to NJ (in a sedan), and if possible, I'd love to do it with a S if schedule, weather, and circumstances permit.

Although I leave just a little southwest of the nations Capital, I'm considering the Chicago to LA trip via Route 66 in the near future in my S2000. However, if you are moving, I'd consider towing it on a car trailer (all wheels off the ground). Potential problem however, is that when you stop to rest in a hotel (if that's what you do), your "S", trailer and towing vehicle might be stolen. A friend was moving with his vette on the trailker from New Mexico to DC and all was stolen just west of the Mississippi..... Suggest a second driver and drive straight.....

In the last two years I've done 5800 miles in 3 weeks and over 6000 in 2.5 weeks. They were the greatest road trips I ever did and very comfortable.

tips:

1. Take your time and stay off the interstates.
2. if you must drive on the interstates, get earplugs or put the roof up. The noise from the other traffic gets pretty loud.
3. Take lots of breaks
4. Enjoy the scenery.

If the purpose of your trip is simply to get the car to San Diego in a day or two, ship it, it won't be very fun. If you can turn the trip into a 5 or 6 day affair, it will be a great time.

i would uhaul it and tow it myself...i made a 30hr trip in a civic, and that was bad enough...i love my s2k, but the road noise and harshness would get to me over 30hrs....
After driving from Florida to Michigan in my caged integra with very very high rate springs and various i/h/e mods... you go numb after the first few hours so the noise and such doesn't matter after that

I've driven various cars for long distances.. I think the most important thing is to have a passenger so you can 1) switch off driving duty and 2) have some conversation, otherwise I fall asleep.

You mean the WTDR Expo? I meant to come by and see who owned the silverstone that was there but I was always too busy with event tasks or driving the M3

I've done a 22 hour trip to Austin, Tx. from Chicago. And a 18 hour Chicago-New Orleans. But they were both with some one else in a comfortable car.

If I do it, I'll bring some one with and fly them home. Maybe my Dad, he's always wanted to do it.
