Cruise Control ???
I was reading a Hemmings mag today when a 70s car was described as having cruise control as standard.
I thought about the number of times I drove my S2000 using CC. That would be my ring finger and my pinkie!!!
Curious to know anyone else's experience.

I use cruise control daily. In all my cars. Why not since most driving is just here-to-there and not especially playful?
I could say the same "ring finger - pinkie" thing about the radio in all my cars, especially the S2000. Why is there even a radio in this car? At least I can actually hear the radio in my big cars.

I use the cruise control on my S on a long straight relatively flat, for Vt anyways, highway I travel occasionally. It still works perfectly and I find it holds the speed very well my WRX tends to vary in speed on inclines and declines.
Two of my 4 current vehicles have adaptive cruise control, which is nice. One of those also does stop and go in traffic hands free. Those Germans!
My old 2002 Tacoma has nothing, only crank windows, 5 manual speeds and.....nothing else. Thank God the A/C kicks ass.
The S has a basic cruise which is easy to engage. Not adaptive but that is okay. I use it on freeways and the local speed traps to ensure the cops don't get excited over any inattention I have after listening to a great sound system I have put in, unlike Chuck S.
The CA Highway Patrol seems to give you a pass going no more than 73 in a 65 zone. Cruise control makes sure I fade into the background.

That is one thing that I fail to understand which is why people cannot drive a constant speed when they are on a highway with no intersecting roads, no sharp curves etc. I get why we constantly have people driving off the road and crashing and crossing the center line and hitting other vehicles head on, it’s because people are constantly looking at their phone or giant info screen on their dash basically doing everything but looking out the windshield but what is the point in constantly speeding up and slowing down.

I found the driver seat uncomfortable on long drives in the S2000, so I used it frequently, it allowed me to move my leg to a different position and lessen the pain or discomfort. I use CC on all of my vehicles all of the time.
Not too long ago, Uber driver, scheduled airport run, so someone that drives hwy often. Holds pedal slightly too far, so car slowly speeds up. Then he realizes starting to go too fast, ABRUPTLY LIFTS. Coasts until going too slow, repeats cycle. Endlessly. Nauseatingly. Borders on torture.
I've ridden with people that do this but simply ease off pedal. They never totally let off. Just oscillate between slightly too much pedal, to slightly not enough. Still unpleasant, but at least not a constant effort not to scream.
These people seem unable to hold a constant speed. The hysteresis involved in anticipating how much of a small action with pedal is necessary to eventually achieve their desired result is appparently beyond their mental capacity. The ability to trim.
Life has taught me there are people that should never be a pilot. Or ride a motorcycle. Or even drive a car. Or write code.
Everyone is good at different things. You wouldn't want me to do your accounting.
Even worse are drivers who left-foot brake rather than just lifting the throttle. Brake lights are constantly flashing in normal traffic. These folks can't be using cruise control since any braking cuts it off. Tailgating is a varsity sport here in Virginia. Third brake light flasher helps drop them back without physically brake checking them by slowing the car down.
