cruise control question

Default cruise control question

well i was cruisin on 6th gear, doin about 70 , and without turning the cruise off, i went from 6th to neutral and next thing i see is the rpm tach work its way upto redline, before i could redline i pressed the brakes, was confused, tried again and samething, the rpms start goin, i feel this wierd, is this normal? soemthing to worry about please help

If you engaged the clutch, then you've got a problem. If you went from 6th to neutral without using the clutch, the cruise acted as would be expected.

no i did not use the clutch to shift from 6th to neutral, and if i do use the clutch it wil kill the cruise, but i shifted by mistake but have never seen this before, tried it on my sti and friends gsr, it just died like it should

I'm pretty sure all Hondas will behave this way. Either don't use the cruise or turn it off before you go to neutral without the clutch. You can turn it off by tapping the clutch or brake, hitting the master switch, or pressing accel and decel at the same time.

like i said it was mistake, and the reason i posted was to make sure if it was normal for the rpms work their way up..

My integra does that; it took me a while to figure out why the RPM's flew when I took it out of gear to coast.

Sounds normal to me. The kill switches for the cruise control are located on the clutch and brake pedals (and of course on the dashboard and steering wheel). If you don't either clutch or brake, the engine will still be trying to move the car at 70 MPH, and if you are in neutral, that's bad...
