Default Cruise Control Switch

I've had the cruise control switch on since the day I left the dealer for the fairly long trip back. I've got about a 1000miles on my car now and haven't had a use for cruise control since.
Yesterday, I finally turned the switch off and have been wondering every since weather it is really necessary to EVER turn this switch off.
I realise this is just a button push but can anyone think of a good reason not to leave it on?

I always leave it on. Of course, if you accidently hit the cruise on in the rain, it can turn into a disaster!

I leave the button in my Civic in the 'on' position.

But I leave the button in my S2000 if the 'off' position unless I'm using CC.

I don't even know why I do those things the way I do them.

What is the purpose of turning it off anyway?

Doesn't it shut off when the engine is turned off. So you have to turn it back on when you restart the engine?

If you turn it off you free up about 10WHP...just like the A/C

I keep it off cuz I do most of my driving in the city, I like to play with traffic down shifting and what not...never really use cruise.
