In our litigious society, the manual instructs you to turn the dashboard switch off when not in use, so that you don't accidentally hit the 'Resume' button in the steering wheel and accelerate to 65 mph at an inopportune moment...The resulting accident would of course be the car manufacturer's fault, right?

I can't believe I'm responding to this thread with an actual reason as to why I'm so idiosyncratic...

In my old Integra, I would leave the Cruise button depressed in the "on" position, because it was a round push-button. When it was "on" it would sit a tiny bit lower than before, until you clicked it off.

In the S2k, I leave the Cruise button OFF. Why? Because when the button is depressed, it depresses at an angle, and no longer sits flush with the dash like it does in the OFF position. Therefore it is aesthetically unpleasing to my eye, and must be clicked "on" only when necessary.

I'm weird.

Today while using cruise, I shifted into 6th without using the gas pedal. Okay or not?

Use of either brake or clutch de-activates CC

If you depress the clutch for any reason, the cruise control shuts off, just like hitting the brake. So if you shifted using the clutch, it shut off. The gas pedal will not affect cruise so you can pass someone, then just backoff, and it will kick back in at your preset speed.

I've left mine on since I got my car. I rarely use CC, mostly because I think the CC in our car sucks. It feels jerky when I am using it on lower than highway speeds.

ItsBen- I haven't driven any other S2000's besides mine. DBW in 2006 solved the effect you describe. CC is an absolute pleasure on the interstate. No accel or decel. can be detected.

Only if one had the system engaged previously (i.e. the second "cruise" light on). Otherwise there's no speed to "Resume"

CC is no problem at highway speeds, but its the lower speeds that it feels jerky, especially around 30 mph. Half the time, it is pretty smooth at that speed. But the other half of the time I can hear and feel the engine reving inconsistantly.

(you are weird).

Anyway, there is a big difference between turning CC OFF and having it DISENGAGED. You can only engage CC when it is turned ON, then if you depress the clutch or brake pedals, you actually only disengage the CC, it is still ON! After disengaging, you can RESUME the previously set speed. But once you turn CC (or the car) OFF, you can not resume. Hope that is clear.

Just for the record, I also leave my CC OFF.
