Cruise Night On Long Island

On any nice Friday night on Long Island hundreds of the nicest cars from the Tri State Area gather at the Train Station Parking Lots on Sunrise Highway in Bellmore. This event is so big and so well established it is listed in AutoWeeks annual "Car Places To Go". All sorts of cars are there from classics to Hot Rods and Sports Cars. The quality of some of the stuff that shows up there is amazing. For instance an original Penske Sunoco Corvette Coupe race car originally driven by Dick Gulstrand in the 60s was there. I was astounded as this is an historic race car and worth a small fortune.
So anyway I park my S2000 and pop the hood. I had the only S2000 there and it attracted a fair amount of attention and compliments. Perhaps what I was most impressed with was the Ferrari guys who made a deliberate effort to come over and study the car closely and compliment it profusely. The Testarossa owner, a middle aged guy wearing a Ferrari F1 Schumacher team shirt, said he just liked fine cars and he really liked the S2000. I was beaming and thanked him and of course complimented his Ferrari.
Seems the real car guys know what they are looking at and a neat car is a neat car to them no matter who makes it or what it costs. The Mustang guys ignored it which I thought was significant. I didn't really care as I had just gotten the thumbs up from the Ferrari guys.
So anyway if any of you NY area S2000 owners want to enjoy a cool car night check it out. Best car show around and it happens every nice Friday night!

Interesting that you point out the Ferrari guys in particular.
All the car events, and not just track time, I have found the Ferrari guys VERY enthusiastic about the S2000. I can recall at least a half a dozen cases where they came up to me and we talked and they mentioned that they wanted an S2000, etc...
It must be in their blood...Enzo and Soichiro are brothers in arms.
I need a tissue now...
Good stuff, nice post...
