Cruising rpm
Hi all, just wondering, what rpm do you guys generally cruise in?
I would assume most of you cruise on the highway in 6th, so that would be around 4k depending on the speed. (Then again you never know... I read a post where a guy cruised on the highway in VTEC )
What I'm more interested in is the around town, slower speed like 20-30mph in the neighborhood area, or stuck in slow but constant moving traffic (knowing that you wouldn't be going faster than certain speed, or passing anybody). Do you cruise at the highest gear possible (even if it's below 2k)? Or is there a minimum rpm you don't go below when cruising? Personally I try to stay around 3k rpm in traffic and maybe 2-2.5k around my neighborhood, doesn't matter what gear I'm in (using lower gear if I have to).
In my previous car, I always cruised in 5th (its highest gear) even if it put me at 1.5k because the car didn't have any problem doing so. Now I find myself sometimes cruising in 4th or even 3rd because below 2k, the s2000 feels like it's gonna stall.

I always cruise at 2k rpm+ but in the highest gear possible when there's no traffic.
30mph = 5th gear
40mph = 6th gear
Unless there's traffic, then I cruise 1 gear lower to minimize shifting and in case I need more power to pass.
You're right...the S2K doesn't have enough power < 2k rpm.

Depends on road conditions. It can be a little scary in city traffic to be cruising around at 2000-2500 due to throttle response. I feel more agile at 3500 and sometimes even 5000 for short periods.

always 4,000-4,500 RPM, shift at about 6k (unless getting my daily dose of VTEC). Absolutely never below 3k unless its on the way up from a stop light.
I never care what gear i am in, I drive at 4k-4.5k RPM. That comes from driving high-strung Italian toys, my other car has a 8,500RPM redline and I drive it exactly the same as my S.
AFTER properly warmed up of course, when cold I shift at around 3k-3.5k and keep her under 3 but NEVER below 2k
