Cruising rpm
I almost never put into 5th on a city unless i go over 45mph + i just shift around 4-4.5k, thats seems to be when the engine is best in shape before engaging or having to vtec the car. btw i get 300miles + a tank
It seems the range is anywhere from 2.5k up to 5k. I know the car is capable of cruising for long period at 4k or more (e.g. highway cruising). And obviously cruising at the lowest possible rpm (e.g. sub 2k) is not the best, and cruising at the highest possible rpm (redline) is not the best
So the question becomes what is the optimal rpm for cruising in terms of engine efficiency and longevity?
