Second cam? Both cam are always working. When you hit VTEC, the intake values stay open longer. Not the second cam.
Ah, I see. Thank You for clarifying that.

There are actually three cam lobes for each pair of valves. Two canSHAFTS total, one for the exhaust side, and one for the intake side, 12 cam lobes per shaft. For each pair of valves, the central rocker and lobe are inactive until VTEC engages. At that point pins lock all three rockers together so they all three follow the profile of the central lobe. In an F20C, the two lower RPM cam lobes for each intake valve pair have staggered timing, but in the F22C they have identical timing. As far as I'm aware, this stagger only applies to the intake valves, and is used to promote swirl.

To keep it simple just think of the valve lift and duration changing when VTEC engages or disengages.

Like any machine (including humans) the harder you run it the more wear and tear. On the S2000, once VTEC is engaged it is no different than running a Vette at 6000 RPM for a while.

Look, as long as there's oil in the engine, you don't have to worry. Lifecycle of the engine is theoretical imo - it will outlast you and your time with the car most likely.

Can you do it?
Yes.

Will people laugh at you and think you don't know how to drive a manual properly?
Yes

Wrong analogy. Human beings are different from machines. I guess you have never heard of "bodybuilding".

BTW, why is running a Vette at 6000 RPM is the same as engaging VTEC? I don't see your point in this statement.

It has nothing to do with engaging VTEC. I said once VTEC is engaged since he asked about cruising. Once VTEC is engaged, then it is no different than running any other car at high rpms.

Oh, yes I've heard of bodybuilders. I've also seen bodybuilders with blown knees, torn muscles, etc. Are you suggesting that the longer and harder I run my S2K the stronger it will get? Wow, you should patent that!
