Default Crushed exhaust vs performance

I had my car in at the shop and he told me that after the "Y" split the exhaust is crushed to about half the stock diameter. This is only in a small section, and I'm not sure which side that it is on.
How badly would something like this affect performance?
I would think that its probably un-noticeable?

Good excuse to go after market. Since exhaust is essentially being pumped through an oval instead of a circle, sound would probably be different. Don't know about performance since the volumn would be about the same.

Well I can't say about sound, I mean I love the sound of it

Strange thing is that I had the transmission replaced with an 04 transmission and when I got the car back, it felt a little weaker.
I have no idea if te exhaust was crushed before or if it happened at the dealer.
Thats part of the reason I brought it to my mechanic, because after the dealer installed my new tranny I wanted to make sure everything was OK.

Sounds like an excuse for a new exhaust to me.

I guess so.
I really wanted to do gears and an intake first, but oh well.

Get another stock if you like it.....you should be able to get one for a small amount of money.

Less power after an '04 tranny install??.....becuase the ratios are different and designed for lower rev/higher TQ.

Well I have a complete list of stuff that was wrong on my vehicle:

Driveshaft loop was loose
Rear Exhaust is smashed
Right front alignment adjuster was out & not seated on the brackets. In turn right front tire is worn on the inside edge.
Steering column pinch bolt was loose (mechanic said that this was very unsafe to drive and I could have lost control of the car at any time)
Exhaust Stud at the rear of cat is busted.

Man I've gone through SOOO much hassle I don't even think I am going to bother with the dealership anymore.

As for the ratios, I was told that the 04s shorter gears would help acceleration?

make sure they are not just talking about the right side of the split, which, from the factory, looks like it's shoehorned into the "y" pipe
