...twice; once while I was outside trying to get in and once while I was actually sitting in the car! What's that all about?

I've had this type of thing happen to me as well, like it locks itself automatically. Who knows?

Exactly! Automatically! I even tried to open the driver's door with my key and every time I twisted it open, the lock would re-lock itself, over and over, at least a dozen times. WEIRD.

Sounds like the actuator is either seizing up, or you have an electrical prob where its sending a signal to the actuator to keep activating the lock. Do you have an aftermarket alarm/ door lock system? Or, maybe your remote lock button is triggering b/c its stuck or something? Just some ideas.

The key/remote you're using could be giving off spurious signals. Try changing over to the spare one and make sure the one you're using now is well out of range of the car.

happens to me when I unlock the car with the remote and then do not open the car... it arms and locks 30 sec. later.

That's the way it happened to me, at least when I was on the outside. Does the car go back to standard lock mode after a few minutes of arming itself? It's very unnerving.

1Y2KS2K, I will try changing the remote this week. That's a good idea!

Yes. This is the default behavior of the Honda alarm. My '00 Accord does the same thing and it is a pain. I use a Clifford in my S2000 and I do not have do deal with it there.
