This is great info guys...thanks. I was at a dealer yesterday taking a test drive and inquiring about the particular vehicles that they were getting in in Sept. Anyway, the saleswoman I was dealing with wasn't allowed to tell me, so they had to bring over a manager. He proceeded to tell me that they could get me whatever I want if I sign the paperwork now to buy it at MSRP (I'm not planning on buying one for another 6-12 months). I tell him this, as well as the fact that I'll be looking to get it for under invoice, and he kind of laughs and says that they may all be gone 2 weeks after they get in. I proceed to call his BS and tell him that I know the S isn't selling like it was in year 1 and that this is evident by the fact that they still have a new 2007 black/black just sitting in the showroom. He doesn't like this very much so he shakes my hand and gets up...I guess he couldn't handle dealing with someone who was ACTUALLY well informed and had done their research. The saleswoman was amazed by how I handled myself with the douche and told me it was an honor to me and that it was great to see how composed I was (She was actually really cool and I would do business with her, but not the bonehead manager).

And, I have all of you to thank for allowing me to be well-informed...so, thanks.

I have a 760 credit rating, but I am a recent college grad just starting my career. Would they hold it against me that I am just starting my job?

I am trying the email around tactic now.... Thanks for the help.

I am just having a hard time determining realistic price I would pay for CR. If people are picking up the base model for $29 I would think that the CR would be $3k more. I have gotten one bid thus far for $34,700 for a CR with A/C... How much lower do you think i can find one for? I am really hoping to get one for $35k OTD; otherwise, I am pushing my budget a bit.
I was pretty much in the same situation with probably similar credit background. The sales manager and finance people tried to make it sound like they were doing me a favor by offering me financing because I was a recent college grad but if I were you, I wouldn't purchase unless you were getting a decent finance rate.

not to generalize as i'm sure there are exceptions but i would rather deal with a dead cockaroch than a car salesman. they are probably the weakest closers in any sales field, including their so called finance managers who are total tools. with the type of sales i am used to when i am in there looking for a car watching them try to close is like watching a blind man trying to play poker.

sorry to vent but they can make their lives so much easier if they were trained better. i've thought to myself i'd like to take a few months off and work at a dealership i would set all types of records. i've only met two car sales guys who were actually real closers and one of which i got my last car from after 2 months of intense fighting for a great deal i think and the other one i got a car for my mother i was in there for 10 minutes and he knew the deal right away and saved himself time and got an intentional walk instead of a home run he would never hit because i would never throw him anything close the the plate. so rather than swinging at a ball 5 feet from the plate did the smart thing and took the base on balls

hope you understand baseball because that is the best analogy of what happens when a smart consumer deals with a smart salesman. i know because i have been on both sides and it has always paid off when each side knows what they are dealing with.

So how do you like driving your new under invoice S2000?
I actually haven't purchased one yet, but I will in the next 6 months or so...just gathering all the info I can for now, and waiting for my ideal car to be delivered to a local dealer.

Here's the latest sales numbers. Still looking rough for the S2000 so good deals ought to be easy to find.
