Default Custom built racing exhaust

Next week I'm having a custom racing exhaust built for my s2K by EPS in the Netherlands. It will be a two stage exhaust with an electric cut-off valve for the bypass. All the aftermarket exhausts that I heard (on line) really only boost the sound in the upper regions.

What I would like is some more sound at the lower rev-band while doing the normal driving (but not too loud, nor drone) and out in the open, with the flick of a switch, let all hell break loose. It will probably have 4 tail pipes, but never more than two will be active.

Has anyone tried this before?

I will try to make some photos during the 10h process and post them the week after (when I'm back in NY).

Usually, aftermarket exhausts for the S2000 boost the sound in the lower half of the RPM band. After VTEC, its all engine.

BTW, you've got some nice cars!

When I viewed "the S2000 exhaust Library", without being able to read Japanese, I thought I understood from the DB(A) numbers that up to 6000 rpm, only a maximum of 3 DB(A) increase was gained. The increase from 96 all the way up to 126 DB(A) was at the redline. But I could be wrong.

Well, that appears to be true, but I can tell you from my experience with the car it is just the opposite. Every S2000 w/exhaust I've ever ridden in was the same way. Also, I've never read a post on this board where someone has commented that the exhaust is louder than the engine post-VTEC. It's always the opposite.

Also, keep in mind, they are not measuring DBA's from the engine. Only the exhaust.

I just ordered this exhaust two weeks ago. This video demonstrates how the engine noise takes over the exhaust noise. Even with the car 50 yards away and the exhaust facing the camera, after VTEC, you hear more engine.

Offtopic, but would you mind posting some pics of your other cars in the gallery section?

Yes, most exhausts (if not all) for this car are louder down low then they are in the higher RPM range near redline. Under 4,000 rpm is where they are their loudest, with each exhaust varying slightly, but up top the engine mostly screams. If you are looking for something that is loud down low (and also up high ) you should go with a single exhaust. BTW, I would also like to see some pics of your other cars. Its hard to imagine that I would still own an s2000 if I had two ferrari's.

No, no, I just have one Ferrari at a time, and that is stictly a private, truly enthusiast affair. Far away from scrutiny. I only use it on mountain roads upstate NY. Not colored red, no parading.

I use the S2000 (as I did with the Elise) to visit my clients. They have no clue I have a Ferrari, but they all know I'm a car nut.

If they would find out I have a Ferrari they would think they are paying us too much (which would be close to the truth, but not quite).

So, I've got my custom exhaust built. However, it is completely different than I expected. I was looking for a full exhaust system with an electronic valve, to regulate the sound like in my Ferrari.

However, after looking under the car, they (EPS) talked me out of replacing the full exhaust, and cut off the resonator pipe and installed a short, almost not damped short pipe under the car, while leaving the remainder of the stock exhaust intact.

Now, I have a switch in my cupholder place, with which I can control the valve seamlessly. When closed, the sound is completely stock. When open, it is LOUD. The seamless switch allows for any setting in between.

I'm thrilled with the result.
