I venture to say that there is a high probablillity that there is more room under your R than under the S.

They had to go through a lot of trouble not to lower the clearance on the car.

You should wire it to open up with your VTEC engagement. I'd like to see what kind of gains would be seen on an N/A setup. This is a very good alternative to buying a full catback for those who would like a more discreet power solution.

Someone needs a test pipe.

Awesome setup.

Is that even possible?

I don't see why not, I've seen people wire up vtec engagment lights so the signal gets sent somehow or another

The whole custom built system took about 6 hours and, including valve and labor, cost about $1K.

It cost quite a bit more than I expected, basically the price of a full catback.

I'm looking into something like this, but I'd rather replace the cat with a test-pipe and have the valve installed in the test-pipe.

I have some sound files with the valve open and closed. Will post this weekend.

Few things concern me:

1) It's a complete 180 degrees from where it originally exited
2) You are coming off a complete 90* angle which will undoubtly cause unwanted types of turbulence
3) It's still post cat converter so you aren't actually getting any additional flow (even thought it's probably restricted anyways by the turbulence)
4) You added a muffler even though the only purpose left for your cutout was to make more noise
