tokyo_james,

I used to see those types of cup holders in the Yaohan/Mitsuwa stores all the time. Don't the clip onto the vents??? I would think that a heavy drink, would break the vents. How is it mounted??

Let me see what I can do this weekend, thought with the football (Soccer - Germany v England) on at 2:30 am Saturday night, I may not be around too much in the daylight hours this weekend.

Good luck on your cup holder design session.

tokyo James, are you from England? I'm from Oxford originally.

I've been over in Canada for 4.5 years now. Time flys.

Have fun watching the football at the weekend.

I can't believe people would pay that much for those. It's a good pivoting design, but that is just ridiculous.

I'm no marketing expert but I have contacts at ACNeilsen who inform me that, for many consumers a higher list price increases the perceived quality of a product. Then when choosing between two similar products it is often considered the safe bet to go with the more expensive item.

Though as you mentioned they do appear to be of a very good design.

PS: You won't ever catch me spending $200 Canadian on a cup holder.

That's a whole damn company devoted to cup holders! There are even some videos of the cup holders "in action."
