Default custom piping for single exhaust, cheaper..

Obviously i'm not going for gains on here, jst to save weight w/ out spending a boatload of cash if i dont have to. My question is, to those who bought a universal muffler and jst had a muffler shop fabricate an exhaust system, how do you like the sound, any mufflers you would recommend? I dont see alot of people going this route, but jst wanted to check if any1 has done it... n liked it.. THanks

You'll probably want at least one resonator too so it doesn't sound too raspy. The tone will be very dependant in which muffler you choose.

Last week I had a custom single made. Titanium muffler with custom piping from about 2 inches south of the cat (exhaust shop didn't have a flange to match the cat). No resonator.

I am extremely satisfied with the result. Stays very deep throughout the powerband. I recently rode in 2 S's with Spugen singles and one with an Invidia. Mine is much, much deeper than the Spugen's and even the Invidia. Never really gets raspy at all. Im not sure if thats a good thing in your case as it doesn't necessarily get that ultra "aggresive" tone as you rev it, but it definately isn't raspy or ricey sounding.

It is however, very loud inside the cabin. My ears ring when I've been driving for longer than 30 minutes. I'll probably get a resonator soon to combat the volume.

Advantages to the custom exhaust are that you get to pick the muffler, and choose how much you want it to extrude from the rear bumper as well as the angle it sits. Want the tips blue? I spent $15 on a torch and did it myself.

Oh, and the biggest advantage? The price. $145 + tax. Total.
