The shop doing the work in Texas has had many delays, but I have been given assurances that the custom roof rail will arrive tomorrow. Assuming it does, I will take many photos and do the installation on Sunday. I have all the parts and preliminary wiring already done, so it shouln't take long.

Our plan is to make only ten kits to start, assuming I can be given assurances by the shop in Texas that they can make the custom roof rails in less than 6 months it has taken to do mine.

Rick,

Please keep me informed, as I am quite interested, especially the custom roof rail. Will it be possible to get the rail without the V-1 side?

Thanks again

Greg

Well, this shop disappointed yet again. They promised delivery by the weekend, but nothing showed up, and this is about the 6th time this has happened since I supplied the SPIII and V1 to them in late October to do this job.

They may do beautiful work, but they are the most damned undendable outfit I have ever worked with. I have to seriously question whether we can do any more of these if it's going to be this kind of a hassle.

What exaclty are they doing for you? I have a cousin that runs a thermoplastic plant for injeciton molding, extrusion and thermoforming, he does stuff for BMW, AEI, Posh, etc. Mostly emblems but he may be able to come up with something.

3ngin33r1,

They are making a custom windshield plastic piece to which the SPIII LCD screen and V1 detector are fitted and which replace the stock piece, as in the photo at the top of this thread.

I have to say that the folks in the shop are always a pleasure to deal with and they do great work. It's just that they're so busy they evidently make promises they can't keep. It's gotten so I no longer trust what they tell me about when the work will be finished. It will be finished when it arrives, but I have no clue when that will be. They're now saying the end of the month, but I won't believe it until FedEx shows up with the piece at my front door

So they are making the roof rail peice. I talked to my cousin today and he mostly does injection molding for things like emblems and nameplates which can be pricy to make a peice the size of the rail, but he is getting in touch with someone he trusts that specializes in thermoforming incase you cannot get delivery.
