I noticed there is a rather large cut in the carpet on the drivers side thats goes from the floor mat bracket to over the hump a bit...is this supposed to be there?

Unfortunately everyone has it. It is a factory cut to allow the floor mat anchor to be installed.

Yeah that is what I figured, but it does seem excessively large to install such a small anchor...the cut is like 5x2"

typical

Time for some three piece floor mats I guess

I've got the cut too...poor design, but heck I'll live with it.
