Default Cutting the cord on the gas cap?

I just got a Mugen gas cap cover and it won't fit onto the OEM cover unless I cut the cord (yellow). It's attached to a nut (orange), so I'm not sure if this is the gas cap sensor. Is the plastic strap completely useless and won't affect anything if I cut it? If so, where exactly is the gas cap sensor?

it would be fine as long as the mugen have the same seal and pressure.

you will throw a cel if your new cap doesn't seal as good as oem, since the oem fuel system is totally sealed and any "air leak" will be detected

i think you should have saved your money and kept the oem cap. jus because it says "mugen" it doesnt mean you get any hp gains.

The package told me it adds 30hp!!! naw, it was just a whole bunch of crap I got when I first got the S was really excited to make it unique. Kind of regret it now, but whatever.

So just to make sure, the cord has nothing to do with the gas cap sensor? And just to clarify, this is a cover that sticks onto the OEM cap. I will still be using the OEM gas cap.

I have a 2000 Euro car and in 2002 a friend of mine borrowed the car and managed to break the cord... so I hacked it all off. No problem at all. It's just a plastic cord with no sensor inside.

MY04, no cord.

Can you unscrew the retainer from the car, and pop the cap out of it?
