Wasn't it you that suggested your dad was a "bad ass" driver in another one of your threads, about drag racing I think? I guess it is true after all...

Sorry, I just couldn't resist highlighting the irony of your prior thread. I do sincerely hope your S gets fixed quickly.

Kind Regards, Chris

Really sorry about your accident, glad you are both OK.
However, I am a bit confused.
Why do ya'll think that the reason for your spins are bald tires?
This would hold true in wet conditions, but on a dry road nothing is better than a bald tire.
Bald = more tire on the road , which = more frictoin = more traction.
Why do you think all high performance racing (track, and not raining) use slicks?

If you know something I don't, let me in on the secret

my dad tried to drive my car one day and when i came home i found my car in the lawn behind my house. I asked him what happened? he told me that he tried to reverse, but he couldn't find it so he thought he would go and turn the car and was unable to. So he just left it there. I was like what happened to my car? why is it behind my deck on the lawn.....

Silly Dads S2k is for kids not parents. LOL!

Sand is really slippery. The main thing is that no one was hurt. I really should have resisted the temptation to flog you with your own "bad ass" driving comment. In consideration, I'll leave you with some honest thoughts about driving:

Snow/ice rear wheel drive experience usually helps to get countersteering learned. Although I honestly had a blast in a driving school having my turn driving the skid car. Maybe such a school is not too far from you and your dad's home. I always take away a few things from a session of Professional Instruction.

A couple of weeks ago I hit a patch of sand on a highway on-ramp while I was accellerating, and the tail of my NA S did come around on me -- but I eased off the throttle and countersteered until the rear end came back behind me, then I resumed accellerating onto the highway. I think that one of those Professional Instructors got through to me in one of those sessions. I am going to sign up for another class in the spring.

One thing to keep in mind is that this sort of thing (power oversteer) is bound to happen again to you in the twisties, FI or NA. You have a choice to try to prepare for it, or not.

Kind Regards, Chris

FI = Forced Induction (e.g.: supercharger; turbocharger.)

NA = Normally Aspirated

IMO, an NA S2000 has plenty of power to put you in power oversteer situations. I would imagine that your FI S2000 can do an even better job of this.

I would make sure that the school you find includes some driver's seat time in their skid car (a test car with a remote control steerable rear axle), it's a hoot. One of these schools that I went to was "Driving Dynamics", when they held a session in the NJ Meadowlands (Giant Stadium Parking Lot).

View this as an opportunity to learn something new, because while much of a driving class seems boring you will take away some new knowledge about something -- and that makes it worthwhile.

It is not punishment, but an investment in your future.

Kind Regards, Chris
