Damn Antenna Thieves!!!
Yeah it's so annoying. I had my antenna stolen a few weeks ago by some loser. I just unscrew it and bring it with me or throw it in the trunk if I'm leaving my car where I can' see it. I know, it's a hassle, but it'll keep those losers away.
You could always do this:

Much less of a theft target, and improved reception to boot.

Hey, I'm 16, I own an S2000, I don't steal. I know several places where you can buy S2000 antennas. For those of you who have had them stolen, I'm sorry, but everyone I know who has one, bought it.

Yup lots of us VW people have them. I'm not sure why, though, because our stock antenna looks just fine.
I've never heard of people stealing them, though.
And BTW, early GTIs like mine were made in Germany, newer ones are made in Brazil, not Mexico.

although I just joined this site and dont own an S.... yet. I do drive a 99 Prelude and its not paid for by anyone but me, my dad signed for the loan because I'm only 17, but I write the check every month. Some younguns work hard for their ride.
After reading this post, I just put a few drops of super glue on the bottom of my antenna and tightened it down as hard as i could with a pair of pliers.
I made sure to wrap the rubber portion of the antenna with 3 layers of cloth, so the pliers didn't warp the rubber.
Most thieves will simply give up if they can't get the thing off in a few seconds.
It is safe to say that no one is getting THIS antenna off, ever!!!
Although it would be funny if I caught a thief in the middle of trying to strugle to unscrew this thing.

SilverS2KAZ - that's a good idea and I actually thought about super glueing my antenna, but I figured I'd just unscrew it if I left the car where I wouldn't be able to see it. In my opinion, if you super glue your antenna, a thief will try to steal it, and if he/she can't, they will end up vandalizing the car out of frustration. I'd rather not have the antenna there at all (take it with me or throw it in the trunk) so if a thief looks at my car and sees no antenna, he/she won't even bother going near it. Just my $.02.
