Thank you all for sharing, I am greatly appreciative of that - anyone else care to chime in? Let us share our joys (and sometimes not)!

Aww! I would have felt terrible.

I started considering buying an S2000 in the middle of a divorce - probably a huge cliche, but hey, it works. I was also toying with the idea of a 3-series BMW, for perspective. I was living in CT at the time, and found a couple at some dealerships. However, due to an impending move to SC (I'm in the Navy), I opted to put off a sudden irrational decision. Plus, I needed the moving space in my car (Pontiac G6).

Fast forward a couple months, and I'm in Charleston, and realized that the weather is rapidly warming up. I started looking again, and found some at the local dealers. I drove out to a couple, but they were literally gone before I could get there - people snapped them up quickly. I finally found one here on the forums up in Clemson, and arranged to drive up and check it out. I drove it out to the closest dealer for an inspection, and the owner let me thrash it around a bit, too. It warmed up on the way back to his house, and he suggested I put the top down - that moment sold me. I had never been in a convertible before. The open air feeling, the eager, happy shriek of the motor, the perfectly balanced chassis that let me toss it around with perfect control - I was done for.

I told the owner (who also has another S; fear not, I didn't take away his baby) that he'd sold me, and I'd be in touch. Put some money down, got the loan, and the rest is history. Everyone asks me how I like it, and I tell everyone the same thing - "It's like driving a go kart every day. I love it." Every time I pass the VTEC crossover, every time the top goes down, every time I hit an off-ramp at double+ the posted limit - I crack a huge grin and say "Wow." With the exception of maybe an Elise/Exige, I really can't see myself being happier with a car.

The car I owned for the most years was actually an 06 Evo IX MR SE. I purchased it brand new and owned it for 4 years. I've never once got bored of that car but got tired of everybody trying to race me at a red light or on the highway. I didn't want to look like a boy racer as I was getting older and I could never get 250 miles to the tank no matter how easy I was on the gas. I drove like a grandma 90% of the time. I needed something that was more luxurious so I found a clean fully loaded 05 TSX with the Aspec package. The TSX's ride was so smooth but damn that car did not satisfy me in any way besides comfort and good gas mileage. The fun factor just wasn't there.

I decided to post it up for sale or trade and luckily someone with a S2k that was 10 hours away wanted to trade. So I took a chance and said why not. Took the 10 hour drive and as soon as I saw it I fell in love and knew I had to have it. Didn't go as smooth as I planned though because the guy seen how much I wanted it and asked me for money on top after I showed up. He knew I didn't drive 10 hours for nothing. I gave him the extra cash on top and drove 10 hours back home with no sleep at all. Never looked back since. Now I'm on my 3rd s2000.

This is indeed an awesome thread!

I bought my S for either one of two possible reasons: I would flip the car and make a few thousand since I bought it so cheap, and it was like new other than a ripped top (replaced shortly after). Or, reason two (which I settled on): After a few weeks, if I liked it enough, keep it and never sell it because I knew I'd never find another clean title spotless S this cheap with low(er) miles. Well, that was almost 2 years ago, and my S is still in my garage, still spotless, and still entertains me more than ANY car I've driven. I'm not unlike a lot of C/D and R/T editors: I can consider this car one of the best sounding and sharpest handling cars ever built. There really just isn't anything shy of 100K (other than an Audi 4.2L FSI V8) that delivers the visceral scream this bitch delivers, period. A 2JZGT-E is close with a tune and rev limit increase and proper exhaust, but other than a tuned NSX, the VTEC induction sound combined with a screaming exhaust note cannot be duplicated. The small amount of oil it uses between changes is irrelevant to me too, because I VTEC the shit out of mine all the time and it deserves a quart over 4K miles. No leaks anywhere (and I've had the VC off 5 times, same gasket ). Other than a valve adjustment, tires, slotted/drilled rotors, and oil/gearbox oil changes, this thing has not asked me for one penny. I did bump a guardrail and scratch my rear bumper/wheel and bend my right rear spindle, but that was a simple $1.5K fix and I didn't even have to re-align the car afterward, and it wasn't the car's fault. The car doesn't seem to age other than squeaks/rattles from the rough road leaving my house that the state refuses to re-pave (hasn't been done for 15 years, I was 13 last time it happened). I also seem to notice a bit of cowl shake that it didn't have 35k miles ago when I bought it, because it used to be a night/day rigidity difference over my MSM, and now it isn't (At least over broken pavement). Otherwise, it's awesome, and I will never tire of it. The trip back from VA the day I bought it was unforgettable: I drove 100 miles out of my way on purpose to visit a friend JUST to clean the car and K/N filter (could NOT wait until I arrived at home, I argued with myself for a few miles before the interstate exit I would have normally taken back home). I then removed the airbox lid, cut the mufflers off at the inlets, hung out for a few hours and started my 400 mile trip back to my house. It's one of the best trips I've ever been on. I wasn't a bit afraid to wind it to 9k over and over all the way home. I was in felony territory speed wise for ~70% of the trip. I was willing to pay: This was the first time I'd ever been a a car that revved this high reliably from the factory, and it reminded me of a street legal CR125R with 4 wheels, geared 15/35 FR with a nice FMF exhaust system and engine build (my first built MX bike that I rode everywhere I shouldn't have when I was in my early teens). My wife, who took me to pick up the S, was in her bolted Celica GT-S and arrived home 2 hours after me . I still think about the first day occasionally too. This feeling has not diminished and never will. This car is a keeper! I love it more than any car in my garage, ten fold. I kinda can't wait to see how many miles it takes before I have to drop in a new block. . I'm keeping it exactly as is with I/E mods only and I'm aiming for 500K miles. Time will tell...

The one I bought wasn't the one I was going for. I went to go look at a 06 Laguna blue S2K at first. When I was driving home my friend pointed out a S2K at another dealership as soon as I saw the 05 i feel in love lol. Silverstone with black and red interior... So beautiful. I filled it up as soon as I bought it and almost emptied the tank before I stopped driving it. The best 15k I spent in my life!!!!!

I remember seeing the s2000 for the first time at a local Honda dealership and wished i could afford to buy one. I never really thought I would ever be able to afford such awesome car at the time so it was left in my head that it would only ever be a dream car. in 08 I was browsing the auto trader when I saw an 05 BB with red/black interior for sale with 16,000 kms on it. I decided to have a look at it, met up with the guy and took it out for a test drive, once in it, I knew I had to have one. At the time, my wifes job wasnt doing so good, after talking to her we decided to wait a little longer. I spent the next 3-4 months just reading about the car, watching videos and just getting all the info i could get on this awesome machine. In 09, again while browsing the autotrader, i found a mint condition ap1 Sazuka blue about 2 hrs away from me, after dealing with the guy by phone for 1 month and coming to an agreement in price i decided to go pick the car up. I remember going to the guys house and waiting for him to get the car from the under ground garage form his appartment complex, Seeing it for the first time was awesome. Drove it home with a big smile on my face, needless to say, my wife was not so impressed due to the fact she didnt like the color, go figure! I loved the car and drove it for 3 years. I ended up selling it last year [ june ]. After selling it i was really depressed, I didnt expect to feel the way I did, but I did? The wife actualy was sad for me too, even though I sold the car for the same price i bought it for which made my wife happy. She soon realized that the only reason I sold it was because I knew she didnt like the car, so i sold it because of her. long story short, I was in another s2000 almost 1 month later, an 04 SSM with red/black interior with 26,000 kms which my wife found for me, lol. We BOTH love our s2000 and will keep it forever.

About 7 1/2 years ago I saw a lineup of a meet they had in Hawaii with the s2ki logo on the bottom corner. I did so much research on them and knew I was gonna be modding it. I heard the MY03 was modder friendly and had the last of the '09 rev , so i knew I had to have it. I went all over the tri-state. Drove 3 hrs for one on Long Island I didn't get, put a deposit on one in Teaneck with rust under the hood that I passed on, and trouble negotiating cost me others. I remember going to see one at an Acura dealership in Ocean. It was their showroom car so naturally i was completely taken by its presence. It was a Sebring with red 03. I can't believe I bought that car. June of 2007 with 14k miles. I probably put 500 miles on it that day alone. I'm about to hit 130k miles and it's white now.

I still can't believe it sometimes, when I walk towards it after work in the dark empty parking lot with the lights dancing on it's lines, that it's really mine. So surreal.

You paid 41k 13yrs ago ...
No, I think it came to $38 or $39. They had all the options included and a Market Value Adjustment of a few thousand dollars. Without the MVA the MSRP of the car was probably $36k. I have to say, it was worth it for us. The first few years of ownership (2000-2002) were quite an experience.
I bet it was , I bought my 1st s2k in 2004 ...still to this day people ask about My S2k from time to time ...I see now after yrs and yrs of ownership ...the S will forever be a great conversation for the right people ...I myself could talk about it for hours on end ...as I'm sure many of you could do the same ...I tell people its just that good ...if only they knew how good

Some background story about me, I've been a "car" fan all my life. Ever since I was a kid I loved cars, especially Ferrari's. I could point out and name basically any car on the road from the age of 9 and on. In Middle School I fell in love with a NA Mazda Miata that one of my teachers had, and ever since then I've been a fan of open top motoring. After High School my first "sporty" car was a '95 Mustang GT Convertible, and I was in love.

When the S2000 debuted in 1999, I remember reading all about it, and even had a picture of a SSM S2000 as my desktop wallpaper for quite a while. After owning my '95 Mustang GT for about 5 years it was totalled in my driveway (were it had been parked) by a drunk driver. I was despondent, the Mustang had been my favorite car. I loved everything about it. I went to a local CarMax dealership with the intention of replacing my old Mustang with a '01 Ford Mustang Cobra or a '99 Corvette C5. I test drove both cars, the Cobra had a bad transmission and was grinding gears, the Corvette was nice but the interior was really underwhelming. As I am walking back into the lobby I see a 2001 Honda S2000 in Silverstone. As I had always loved the car, and love to drive anything, I asked the salesman if I could test drive the car. He said sure... and that was all she wrote. I bought that S2000 and kept it for 4 years.

After my daughter was born I decided to get rid of the S2000 for something with a back seat, I wanted a nice car that I could take my kids in, and I still had a soft spot for Mustang's. I bought another '95 Mustang GT convertible that was virtually identical to my first Mustang. Strangely I never bonded to this Mustang like I had with my first Mustang, or my S2000.

Late last year I made the decision to start looking for a new (to me) car. The Mustang wasn't really doing it for me any more. Being a car guy, I was interested in many different cars from 335i to the G37 to the C6 vette. Still, part of me wanted another S2000. After deciding that I wanted an S2000, I also knew that for it to be the "perfect" S2000 for me it would have to be GPW and an '06 (for the all black interior). After some searching on Auto Trader and on here, I found a local S2000 for sale by an S2Ki member. I went with my wife to look at the car, and I was sold on the spot. It was everything I wanted, I had to wait a few days for the funds to be wired from my bank to his, but in September of last year I became an S2000 owner again. I hope to own this car for the rest of my life.

I sold my S once ...once , never again !!!

Fast forward to 2007 and I was headed to Iraq on my first deployment. There were rumors that because the Army was losing so many mid-level officers because of the wars they were considering offering a bonus. I told the wife this and said that if it happens I was going to buy an S2000 with it. Incredulously she relented. The next February I got my bonus and I started shopping on S2Ki immediately. I found one from a member and my wife with a friend when to close the deal. I came home a few months later after 15 months to a loving wife and an S2000 in the garage.
Congrats on you s2k... "thank you for your time and much needed service to our country"
