Default Daylight running lights?

Having just purchased my '03 silverstone/black S2K, I'm wondering if most drivers turn on thier headlights for day time visability or just go dark. I'm used to driving cars that have had daylight running lights and this little buggy has none.

Only put my headlights on when conditions are dark (rain, night). Our HIDs have a finite life and they cost big $$... I'm not keen on wasting them on bright sunny days.

My S2K is Canadian and has daytime running lights. Maybe they can be turned on somehow for American cars. If nothing else, it's good for a small insurance discount.

I'm not sure if I agree with this. As he pointed out Canadian S2000s come with DRLs. Also many other manufacturers use DRLs on their cars with HIDs. Does anybody no what the lifetime rating is on our bulbs? I'd bet it's pretty damn high.

Well considering since 1990 all cars in Canada have to be sold with DRLs I would think that there has to be some out there don't you?

Unless some can confirm that they use a different bulb when they are on?

furthermore, some cars in canada (2003 >) now run the headlights on at all times - HID or otherwise (i.e. on with ignition).

our benz was like that.....

i bought a US 2004 from ganley and had my local dealer install DRL's....it's a requirement that i had to fulfill in order to be able to import the car and register it up here.

my DRL's are different than the canada-spec cars though.

my little yellow lights (in the headlight cluster) turn on rather than the highbeams at reduced power (which is the norm as mentioned above).

furthermore, my tailights come on with ignition (i.e always on).
