Ok, I've located the car that I want. I've spoken with the owner and I'm confident that he has taken "good" care of the car. Downside: car already has 36K miles on it Upside: I'm getting the car for $21,500. Below are a few pics of the car.

I'm wondering if there is anything specific to the S2K I should be looking out for when I see it on Saturday. The carfax came back clean, but should I look for anything in particular? What I'm really looking for is tips on determining if mods have been done. I'll be looking over the car very closely. I've been doing my share of reading and searching...but any help would be appreaciated.

Specs:

2001
All stock except for Injen CAI

things I would do if I were going to purchase a used s2000:

1. get all maintenence records (oil/diff)
2. see if you can get an extended warantee
3. get a compression check
4. check under car for damage
5. personal written guarentee from seller that car has never been in an accident and if it has he will be liable for repairs relating to that accident if in the future that part will fail (try to get this at least)
6. examine tires/belts/brakes (these can all add up)
7. check to see if any oil leaks after a long test drive

im sure im missing something

look for vin numbers on each body panel
so to insure no repairs have been done
and ask him if any tsb's have been done

Compression check for sure. Also, check to see which TSB's have been performed. From the pics that looks like a damn nice used S2K. Especially the interior shot. Nice color selection.

Yea, like above - check those tires. They tend to wear fast. If they're worn, or on the verge, or if you see the wear markers, that's another $500-$1000 out of your pocket.

The cars look to be in good condition. Congrats! Nice color choice, too.
