Default Daytime running Lights

Having lived and traveled for many years around the Baltimore and now Washington DC Beltway (the highway that circumvents the city where all of the nuts seem to drive as fast as they can only to jam on brakes somewhere up the way), I often find myself in my S2000 alongside another car or truck that just wants to be in my lane - no signal, no warning, no nothing. Having driven a full size conversion van and a 4 Runner the last couple of years where I WAS the tall/big guy on the road, I must say driving my S2000 wants me to either 1) drive 80MPH in the left lane and hopefully not get caught for speeding (and I did get my picture taken with one of DCs new "camera cops" going 56 in a 45), 2) take the back roads and deal with all of the stop lights or 3), just park my "s" in the garage and await spring.

I was wondering if the daytime running light theory (short of putting safari lights above my windshield like you see on some offroad jeeps ) would help "the other guy" see me. Maybe a small light set that could be installed on the front bumber where those "fake" air vents are (I've see a set on a 2002, but don't seem to have the flat area on the my 2004) that could be wired to the accessory switch - only to be on when the key is on.....

What do you think.... anyone got any ideals for a set of lights or another theory for "staying alive"?

There are kits you can buy to have 'real' DRL on the car. OEM DRL just uses the high-beam lamps at 1/2 wattage.

I think this is a problem with any incidents involving a "low-rider" and a larger vehicle. I'd guess DRL's would help, but I'm thinking you'd still run into those situations. Maybe full strength high-beams?
