Default My PIAA's just DIED! Venting!

Talk about being really disappointed right now. . .

My beloved PIAA's (fog/driving lights) on the front of my S2000 gathered some condensation during the horrible weather I drove in on my way to Knoxville for the Dragonball Run and then when I drove up to Richmond, Virginia. . .

It seems that they gathered quite a bit of moisture and just running the lights did not burn the condensation out! So, now after all this driving, I decided to take a look at the lights and clean them out! Well, when I touched the driver's side PIAA, it completely fell out (the lens). It seems that the condensation affected the adhesive seal around the lens. In more disappointing news, the moisture combined with heat must have created a boiling effect inside the light resulting in some bad discoloration of the back lens and chrome ring around the light! Then off to the second light where a minute amount of pressure had the lens popping off. . .

Talk about being pissed. . .well, actually. . .I still am! I paid a good amount for these lights and never expected to have this kind of problem! It has to be a defect. . .

Looking over the PIAA website, their "lifetime" warranty covers the lamps for as long as you own them. . .

The warranty statement states: Water leaks through an obvious gap in the sealant or from a loose lens are defects covered under warranty.

I wonder if the installation will also be included I had this done at a PIAA Authorized Service Dealer. I will know more tomorrow. . .right now, I am just really upset about the whole thing and I have to vent. . .my wife does'nt seem to understand what it is I am talking about! I know you all do. . .or at least can relate!

Hey. . .it's working. . .I'm starting to feel a little better already!

PIAA ... They aren't so great really. I personally like Raybirg. Defects and problems are common issues, can't do anything when that happens unwillingly.

Foglights don't look good anyways. Just go with the bi-HID look. Cleaner. Cheaper!

Sorry to hear about it.

Ahhhhhh. . .

Much happier now that I just received some really good news that my PIAA's will be replced tomorrow with a brand new set!

I agree with you on the Raybrigs. . .that's what I had on my Accord Coupe and they were pretty awesome!

I like the look of the fog lights!

Airgate: I'm disappointed to hear about those PIAA's failing on you. I was considering getting a similar pair (because Raybrig are way too expensive), but I''ve got my doubts now. I hope you get a satisfactory response from PIAA, including a free install on some new ones.

I'm glad PIAA's warranty worked for you and that you're getting a free set with installation. I wonder if the lowness of the car, and where they are installed had an effect on the PIAAs. They sit pretty close to the ground.

Not sure. . .I doubt that as they sit about the same on any other car with fog lamps. . .

I just called PIAA again and talked to them about another model series. . .the 004x. . .these will produce a light shade similar to the HID's and the fit will be the same!

The 004x does not have the white ring or chrome ring either so I am thinking that they may look better. . .or worse!

They may ship both models over and let me decide. . .could be interesting and worthy of a poll!

Now the possible replacement. . .the 004x model from PIAA. . .

What do you think? BTW, they are the same exact size. . .the pics are just off a bit!
