Lets say you don't want your compressor on to defog your glass...
No compressor on = gas savings
and if you want it on just hit the button always nice to have the option right?

I just read this at work and ran out to try it on my 04 and it worked. I always hated that it went on auto and i couldnt turn it off. I am really satisfied now. Thanks for posting this.

This was definitley something that should have been included in the owners manual.... I was so annoyed when I turned on the defroster for the first time, then hit the A/C button and it didn't turn off. Thanks man, you own!

Hmmm right
I think i gotcha.... I CAN turn off the a/c when i want, on off on off on off, that is what the AC button is for right?
But i thought that this procedure made it stop automatically coming on AC when turning the knob to the windscreen function (which it does) i want to be able to turn the knob to windscreen when sc is off, and sc stays off, instead of having to turn it off manually. know what i mean?

Sorry mate, not really "automatic". But in the States A/C always stayed on for us even if we pushed the bottum or before this procedure is used.
