Thumbs up Dealer overfill my engine oil?

I just had oil/filter change last week in a local Honda dealer and when I inspect the oil level on my dip stick after letting the car sit overnight, it is slightly above the top mark. I went back and check on my receipt, it showed they put in 6 qts of oil in my engine where my handbook said MY04 takes 5.1 qt.
Will the 0.9 overfill cause any serious problems that I should consider take out some of the extra oil or it will not do any harm?

They may say they put in 6 qts and even charged you for that many, but by your own description of where the oil comes to on the dipstick, you don't have 6 qts in there. You most likely have closer to 5.5. Is it covering the "H"? Even if it's at the very top of the "H", you should be fine. If it's above that, then you should take some out.
Dealers tend to put down on the work order what their service fee schedule says and that's what they charge you.

I agree. It says 6 qts as a formality for the invoice because they had to use more than 5 qts so they rounded it to 6 on the invoice. That's all!

Most S's take 5.5qts to fill to the top of the X on the dipstick. I've had some take a little more, some less. All depending how long the oil was draining.

Most likely the dealer is using 10w30 in quart bottles, since the S is the onl Honda that uses 10w30. They can't sell less than a 1qt unit. So you get billed for 6qts.

Even if you had 6 quarts in there, it would not harm the engine. Many people actually overfill on purpose before a hard auto-x/track session to avoild oil starvation.

DO NOT OVERFILL, the oil might leak through the gaskets and engine damage might occur--also remember that oil expands when temperature raises.

I agree. Overfilling is not a good idea.
