Default Is the Dealer screwing me?

I have had the car down at the dealer for a number of issues:

Item
Oil gallery bolt
TSB 054 on clutch
First gear selection too difficult at times
Roof Latch rattle - had advised me there was a warranty replacement available
LHS window mechanism replaced due to a rattle. Previously dealer had tightened a loose screw which did not cure it.
Repairs to bumper from being rear-ended
Suspension squeaks over ramps (Rear) and after a long journey (Front)
TSB 01-038 roof low position causes cover to come loose

I was informed that Honda Belgium who have the last word in these matters, will only allow 4.8 hours for a TSB 054 clutch job, and this being their first job will take them an estimated 7 hours. They suggest / want me to pay

Their lack of training and experience shouldn't cost you.

Did you talk to the service manager? If so, call one of the Honda service contacts in the back of your manual. If you can't convince the dealer that you won't pay for their inexperiance, then their boss will.

The hours for any job as outlined by Honda is usually pretty reasonable and sometimes generous. If the dealer can't do it in that amount of time, it's their problem NOT yours. Warranty is warranty - you get it for free. It is they who need to resolve their mechanical shortcomings with Honda and themselves.

Honda did mine and it took them three (3) days!!!!! I kept calling them to find out what was taking them so long and found out that mine was the first they had done!! Boy, that really made me feel good.

In any case, everything came out OK and I didn't have to pay a dime. They made some comments on how much time Honda gives them to do the work and that it took them longer, but I didn't care and wasn't going to pay.

They are trying to get money out of you when it shouldn't cost you a thing. Go to a different dealer!

I agree with what's been said so far. I used to work for auto dealers and they have manuals that specify the shop hours required to do just about any job you care to name. If the mechanic can do the job in the time allotted, he can make a reasonable living. If he's good enough to do the job in less time than allotted, he can make a very good living. If it takes him longer, he starves. That's just the name of the game.

There is NO WAY that you should have to pay because they can't do the job in the time allotted. Another point you might want to consider. Do you "really" want them learning how to do this on "your" car???

Think about it!
