Default dealer service

I know that this is mostly hype and sales promotion, but look at the letter I received today from my Honda dealer.

I suppose that they will try to sell me an extended warranty, but it may be worth going just to meet the service people. Unfortunately, this is for all models, not just S2000.

It is interesting.

Hey....hmmmm i did not buy my car there....did not have my color....but......I go there for all my parts and so on....I do all the service stuff myself....but if i had a major problem i'd bring it to Joyce Honda....But ask for Jesse. I Knew Jesse in the mid 80's when he had his own shop on route 46 in mountain lakes....at the sunoco. He Knows his stuff. Treats people fare....does awesome work and never rips anybody off. He knows cars inside and outside.....and if he doesn't he would always recommend a good place that he trusted. He's a tech over at Joyce honda now....i Just saw him last week. If ya gotta go to the dealer....I would say Jesse has over twenty five years of hardcore expierence. He's no fly-by night mechanic...He had quite a reputation in the town of mountain lakes for providing very good service....Bright and friendly...highly recommend. If ya know the snobs that live in mountain lakes...then a good reference from them is very Good

ralper this isn't some kind of sales pitch, despite how it appears. I went to the same thing when I bought my S from Madison Honda. It ended up being exactly what the invitation says, just a "Get to know your Service and Parts Managers" kind of thing, and they will stand there and tell you about any recent Honda information as well answer new owner questions, as you noted it's for all new Honda owners, regardless of model. It really wasn't anything revealing to me, I actually argued (who me?) with the Service Manager at Madison when he tried to tell us "leaving our A/C on year round was not only good for the car, but didn't put any additional strain on the engine". But I came away with some free keychains and other goodies, worth going to if only for that, and then don't forget about having the opportunity to brag that you have an S, you will probably be the only one there who does.

Thanks for the info. I tend to be cynical so I immediately assumed that they were trying to sell me something.

I intend to go. I figure that at the worst, meeting the service reps face to face puts my service needs on a more personel level. I always think that that is a good starting point. And, I am always happy to learn something new.

This is the second Honda I've purchased through Joyce, and we are currently negotiating an 2003 Accord for my wife. I've have favorable dealings with Joyce so far in both purchases and service.

I hope that the Jesse that ItalianBucwheat mentioned in his post is there. Sounds like the kind of man I want to tend to my car.

I'll let you know how it goes.

The meeting at Joyce Honda was this evening. Much to my surprise, it was a worthwhile evening.

I was the only S owner there, but the service people answered all of the questions without hesitation and displayed a large amount of knowledge.

I had met Jeff, the service manager, before on visits with our Accord. He was aware of the fact that I now own an S, and took time to talk to me individually. I asked him if they would be willing to do modifications and he said they would do suspension mods and some light engine mods. I was surprised and delighted. I thought some of you might want to know.

I introduced myself to Jesse and told him that ItalianBucwheat mentioned him. He said your (ItalianBucwheat) name is Keith. He said that he had owned a Sunoco station and that he was familiar with performance cars and especially the S. As you suggested, I asked him if he would watch over my car when it came in.

I also met Dale. Dale is younger, and started in the parts department. He is now a service advisor. While he is not quite as familiar with the S as either Jesse or Jeff he is quite enthusiastic and eager to help. He was able to answer the questions that were thrown at him.

I have been quite satisfied by Joyce Honda over the years, now I am even more comfortable with the service people. I am glad that I went. I am sorry that I was so cynical when I received the invitation. I really was a nice evening.

An interesting side light. As I was walking out of the showroom one of the salesmen that I hadn't met before walked up to me and said, "Hey, I know that you own an S2000. Did you know that there is a meet in upstate NY this weekend?" I told him that I knew about it, Fall Colors, and thanked him. I walked away with a smile on my face. I really think that Joyce understands customer service.

I went to one at my local Honda dealer last week. It was all informational. Mostly older folks who bought Odysseys! Still, they had free food and pop and door prizes, of which I won none!

Hey i was at Joyce honda at lunch time that day....ordering a new fuel feed line and some washers.....I told the guy about fall colors...they where all checking out my car and the mods i did....
I didn't tell them about any engine mods though.(hood stayed closed)..just to cover my ass. They where like cool....a meet with s2000's wow...they thought that was neat....they told me my exhaust and hardtop looked nice. Ahhhhh as far as Jesse is concerned...he probably knows me by my last name...as are family cars where serviced by him in the 80's ....or by the car i had then.....Red tempo gls......lol...good ole tempo days. Name is not kieth.......lol.....It is Greg....But i've done a favor for him in the past....wink.....wink....so he remembers me by face.....unless the grease has gotten to his brain....i actually just saw him a few weeks ago when i picked up some parts. So they where clueless until i told them about fall colors....lol......they really liked ricks badges to.....They are nice there.....and i think when they see me
they are a little mad they didn't try a little harder to get the color i wanted......and lost the sale.......But i must say....so far anytime i have gone there they have gone out of there way to say hello and have a smalll conversation......always asking to refer people to them.....And i do.....its a nice friendly dealership.

Greg

I'm sure that Jesse is a good man to know, as are all of the people at Joyce. I'm also impressed with Jeff.
