I was following the thread you had over in Mid-A and I'm glad things finally got resolved, albeit way late.

Is Alaniz worth ALL this trouble? Lately I have read numerous posts on the subject of comunication and delivery dates that do not sound welcoming. Are his "heads" the best? I'm only asking because I plan on building up my engine this year and head work is part of the project.

Erick

Chad, I follow your posts and the progress of your car, congrats and I'm glad everything worked out. Enjoy!

You have to figure 3 or 4 months with Alaniz. I saw a head done in 4 weeks a few months back but the usual is 3 months or more. Anyone shipping a head to him should strip it first and just send the head with valves/springs in place. No cams or bolts, etc.

Just read the cliffs...glad you got everything back.

I'm also planning headwork it the not TOO far future, but probably 1-1.5years down the road as a guesstimate. I will be doing some shopping, thats for sure, leaning towards laskey.

However, I think whoever I go with, I will be sending them a "spare" head to do the work on and make it more of a bolt on job when I finally get the head back

I would like to go ahead and say that I hope everyone does not get the wrong idea with this thread. Joe Alaniz does amazing head work - I am very eager to see the final numbers on my car using his work. However, I just felt it was neccessary to bring everything that has happened to S2Ki's attention.
If you do happen to have a secondary spare head laying around and can afford the downtime - by all means, Joe's work is top notch!

Well, apparently my bad luck never ends.

Earlier this week I dropped my Intake Manifold off at a local shop to have the runners port matched to the head - free up a bit of more power! Well, this afternoon when I picked up the parts I was in for a bit of bad news.

Apparently Alaniz Technologies used a belt sander when surfacing the head. After the local machine shop looking at things, it was done very unevenly. The shop had to take off 9 thousandths by milling the deck - now things are finally surfaced well!
