Draft big SUVs and trucks and you can get at least a 10-15% bump in mileage. I used to watch the little instantaneous MPG calculator on my Mazdaspeed3 and it would literally jump from 30 to 33 if I tailgated a big semi or even just a larger SUV.

they did that on mythbusters, I think they ended up getting like 5-10mpg better from like 60 ft or something.

On my way back to NOVA from Virginia Tech, I drafted behind an Escalade the whole way, going 80-90MPH. My gas mileage was like 34MPG. I made it home in about 3 hours. LOL!!

Its like saying cruising at 5mph in first gear (say like 3k) will get you the same gas mileage at 60mph in 6th gear (3k)

Na, it's like saying you will get similar gas mileage cruising at 3k in 5th as you will in 6th.. which you do.

I've done a whole tank once without any fun.
It was raining heavy all day and I had to use my car for work so decided to just cruise. It was all motorway driving.

Got 365 miles out of the tank.
Worked it out after the refill and calculated 36.5 MPG.
Oh yeah that was on Super Unleaded (99Ron)

Pretty pleased with that :)

With a 13.2 gallon tank, how did your calculations lead to 36.5 MPG?

yea i believe someone did a test a bit back and they got pretty good mileage even with top down the whole ride.

37 is prob. an error. that's like....hybrid status. but this is what i love about this car too. you will probably never see anything over 30 on a Z. the fact that you can get 30 mpg all highway doing 75 seems really good to me.

That would probably be me. Below is the link to the write up. Just for shits and giggles sometime when I am bored, I will perform the test with the hardtop on to see what I can get out of her since there has always been a discussion about top up / top down. I think 37 is doable, it will not be much fun, but doable none the less.
