Deciding between an AP1 or AP2...
I had heard about the increases in torsional rigidity on the AP2's but i couldn't find any specific info. Its not like the Ap1s are wobbly though...so exactly what was changed?
I still haven't found any concrete info on the my00-01 to my02-03 suspension change. I've read that the car feels more "planted" but I'm looking for specifics...I'm a stickler for details lol.

As for the revised suspension, Honda did revise the spring rates in earlier years. The earlier models (00-01) had stiffer rear springs than the front. In 2003 (and 2002 as well?) Honda made the front and rear about the same rate. Then in 2004, the front was stiffer than the rear. 2008 increased that bias more, and CR increased it by much more.

I think that former AP1 ownsers being more satisfied with the AP2 is mainly a psychological thing. Of course you're going to think your new AP2 is an improvement and ignore anything to the contrary.
I don't see what ownership has to do with anything. It's a psychological thing.
Of course you're going to do anything you can to reinforce the positives about your new purchase and ignore the negatives. Look up cognitive dissonance.
[I]Jack Brehm's famous experiment looked at how 225 female students, after making a decision, favored the alternatives which they had selected more strongly (Brehm, 1956). This can be explained in dissonance terms

I don't own one so i couldn't know? Such a nice attitude. Sounds like something a teenager would say whose mommy and daddy still pay for their car insurance. Please don't go around try to marginalize my opinion.
The second part of your post is exactly what I am saying. Ap1 owners defend their decision touting that the ap1 is the better car while ap2 owners do the same. In reality, the difference between the two is means little to the average buyer.
I personally feel that Honda is not the kind of company that would make a car like the s2000 intentionally slower or "duller" they are, however, big on safety and of course would like to make a profit. The development costs on the s2000 were astronomical so developing the car to have a wider appeal is in their best interests. The fact that the ap2 performs on par with the ap1 is a testament to Honda's commitment to the philosophy behind the s2000.

I do agree that the Various years have much more in common than the Ap1/Ap2 debators give credit for. But I believe that most of the changes including the tires and tranny changes were upgrades. Honda did dial out some of the oversteer, but on public roads, I'm happier with understeer bias anyway. Just wish Honda could have added the 2.2L without dropping the redline so much. The Ap1 pistons move at 4906 feet per minute at 8900 rpm, whereas the Ap2 pistons rip along at just 4761 feet per minute at 8000 rpm, So honda could have gotten away with an 8500rpm redline, as hondata shows, but they didn't give us the extra 300 rpms.
