Post Deciding between an AP1 or AP2...

Well I have done my research, and I've come to understand the difference between ap1 an ap2.

But I am not sure which one is for me. I know that the ap1 has tighter suspension than the ap2 but I know that could be fixed if I did purchase an ap2.

Also, the whole big difference between the ap1 and ap2 is the red line. Soooo if the ap1 red lines at 9000 and ap2 at 8200, does the extra 800 really make the difference?

I probably won't autox the car that much, really don't have time. 1/4 is another thing. I would wanna do that a lot so would the ap2 make more sense because its make more power and torque?

Last one, I heard before the engine hits VTEC the car is rather, dull. I mean I know its not slow at all but thats the only downside I have really read to the S2K. Can anyone elaborate?

Just having trouble deciding which one to get.

Thanks for the help.

drive both and then decide. you will get mixed opinions here.

i've owned both, an 03 and now an 07. i prefer the 07.

the ap1 rides a bit more stiff, but most people swap springs or get coilovers anyway... not a big deal.

the redline... depends on who you're talking to. i noticed a slight difference in sound, other than that nothing. they both scream. i prefer the little extra tq and the gearing of the ap2.

If you are worried about it being sluggish out of vtec you should probably go for the ap2. Much better tq down low and the stock gearing is better to give the feeling of more torque.

I borrowed an ap1 (03) for three days from the dealer and ended up getting an 06. The ap1 may rev to 9k, but the power has been falling off fast for several hundred rpm.

If 1/4 miles are what you want to do, there are better platforms then the S2000.

S2000 before vtec being dull is merely perspective. After driving a 4 door 96 Accord, even before vtec the S2000 feels like a beast. I'm sure people who have driven turbo'ed cars would think otherwise.

most who have upgraded to the AP2 from an AP1 prefer the AP2.

your best bet would be to take a test drive in both..
