Default Definite Understeer

I posted a while back (right after getting my S) that it didn't seem to understeer at all. Rather it seemed to oversteer just the right amount.

Now that I've broken the car in and that the outer shell has worn off my tires I want to retract my previous statement.
The 04/05 S most definitely understeers. It does so quite a bit actually. I will however say that it still feels a lot more balanced while understeering than my Z did.

I smell suspension mods in my future...

I'd say you're right about the 04/05's. When I've fooled around in a parking lot, both wet and dry, my 04's front has generally given out more than my rear. But I'd have to say that it's pretty darn close and almost perfectly neutral - shall we call it a slight understeer balance. Given different circumstances, however, I've definitely been able to power oversteer into a 180 spin - this was all within the controlled environment of a parking lot, of course. I've also experienced bump oversteer on a fast offramp, STILL! I'm guessing that in fast left right slalom-like transitions you can get it to oversteer also. I don't know if we generally get lift throttle oversteer on the 04/05 like previous years. Anyone?

You should try a wider front tire first before going through the expense and hassle of new suspension components. My 04 understeers while on the stock tires, sure, but it's not an issue at all when I have the race tires on. (225 front and 255 rear, and it's a wide front.)

Isn't your turn in affected by the wider fronts? Don't you find your steering to be just a tad more sluggish?
I would prefer not to change the width of my fronts. I think a stiffer sway on the rear should take care of the problem. I had also though of going 225 all around but that seems like overkill (although it has it's obvious benefit) Has anyone had any experience with this on an 04/05?
With stock tires, the '04 turn in is a bit slower than the '00. On race tires, I haven't noticed as much of a difference. Not having done much street driving with the race tires, I cannot comment on this aspect. But I can say with 100% certainty that the 225f / 255r setup eliminates the understeer I get with the stock tires. Once the stock tires wear out, I will not put a replacement set of RE050s on.
