great answers. I do still wonder how the FTD factor compares between it and ferraris, exotics, etc.
I'm not sure how the S compares to 100k+ cars and don't think it's really fair to compare them. I just know that almost everytime I drive my S I enjoy the experience. I feel more involved than I do in other cars. Sometimes I feel like a kid that just got a new toy, those are great moments!

Well fun is a hard thing to define. One reason I wouldn't want a Porsche, for example, is that I really can't afford one. I wouldn't really have fun because I would always be worrying about not wrecking it, parking it and having it stolen or stripped etc. The S2k is about all I can handle without getting totally anal about it.

You may have noticed that many of the "got rocks" guys and gals treat nice cars like the stove... It serves a purpose, it's nice to have but if it breaks or if you just get bored with it you get another one. The rich truly are different-they have money.

Since getting the S I find myself just taking the car out for rides to nowhere in particular, something I hadn't done much of since I first got my first car. It's the combination of the convertable, good looks and the performance/handling of the car. Like others have said it's not the fastest on the road but it fits me perfectly.

the reason i think you can compare any car (ie neon vs enzo) is cuz they all have 4 wheels, turn and accelerate. that might sounds naive, but i think the cost of an object does not delete their similarity (another ie: kmart shirt vs armani shirt). in any case, if anyone has driven both the S and an exotic how does the FTD factor compare?

Fun to drive because it's a go-kart with a soft top and A/C. Who does not have fun while driving a go-kart,right?
Pretty much my sentiments also.
My first experience in a go-kart is one of my most favorite memories. The sheer joy of that thrill is forever laser etched into my cortex.

It's the main reason I own the S.

"Fun to drive" isn't hard to pin down. A car's agility and acceleration are inversely proportional to the grin factor.

It's about a car's ability to inspire confidence while honing skills and gaining experience. It's about becoming one with the car- learning to be smooth with action and reaction. It's about driving instead of being driven. Factor in price, quality, reliability, scarcity, decent gas milage and oh yeah, being a convertible (it's sooo much easier to smell the roses with the top down).

^The other reasons I own an S.

Obviously many other cars are "fun to drive" also. That's great! I like variety. Wish I could own a half a dozen! Unfortunately, I'm poor and sane. Fortunately, there are few competitors to the S that meet or squeak by my expectations of the best choice (for me).

I'm sure if anybody here had the money to buy a Ferrari 360 Modena convertible like this one over an S they would. But then again..... now that i've had my S for 4 months I feel as if I wouldn't trade it in for anything.

with all

a fun to drive car to me:

get in and instanly i have a smile that wont go away
the rush that my S gives me every time i accel, turn, break
the beautifull sound of reving up to 9k
the instant response to my input
comfort and confidence at any speed
how i can connect with the car
"the feel" hard for me to explain, but i guess its like a chill or something
driving position that inspires the confidence mentioned earlier
how every time i look at the car i want to go out and drive
the excitement and joy during and after some spirited driving, that some cars dont give
driving with the top down feeling, hearing...eveything around you
not worrying about reliability

etc....etc....the list is never ending

Any vehicle that you take out for a drive even though you know you have no destination in mind. A.K.A. Joyriding.

The smile is a big thing. Actually being able to see the smile every so often by leaning over and glancing into the rear view mirror is something I could never do while riding sport bikes (or any bike for that matter). Having a 4 wheel sport bike is pretty cool, too and I can even eat a burger while I'm heel/toeing.

Having all the controls at finger and toe tip and available to do whatever I want them to do to get the car to point, turn, go and stop is another big thing.

I took a friend out for a ride and let him drive my S2. He flew F-16s in another life. He commented that the efficiency of the S2 cockpit reminded him of the fighter cockpit. Now that's "fun to drive"
