Default defrost button comparisons

I wanted to know what the differences are between defrost buttons on all years.

For MY 00-01 The button for the defrost for the hardtop goes behind the cupholder. mine you just push and it stays on till you shut it off. Does everyone elses do this too?

for MY 02-03 the defrost button is to the right of the steering wheel on the guage cluster suround. does this button stay on till you shut it off or does it shut off by itself. does it have a timer?

04-05 is still beside the steering wheel?

06-08 is between the top switch and the hazard button. Is this button a timed peice or do you have to shut it off by hand.

I'm trying to figure the differences because i'd like to get an 06 console but I have a 01 button which i have to press to turn it on and turn it off. does the 06 button shut itself off? any help will be helpful thanks

My 05 is by the steering wheel. I have turned it off. I don't think it has a timer.

I have an 06 and I'm pretty sure it has a timed shut-off. I usually forget to turn it off whenever I use it but the few times I've remembered, it would already be off when I look down.

Other than the defrost button placement in the other MYs, I'm not sure if they are auto shut-off or not.

My '07 shuts off automatically.
Not sure how long it takes, but I've tried it.

ok now heres the real question. How would i wire up my 01 switch to a 06 console button. My 01 button has to be shut off by hand. it doesn't have a timer on it. I was also thinking of doing the 04 console and dremeling the defrost button out in the center of the console. But i want to see pics of it first. anybody do this?

08 located near hazard and dummy plug (roof switch lol).
Timed. Manual says 15 minutes.
