As a matter of fact, the SSM (sports study model) concept car, unveiled at the 1995 Tokyo motor show formed the basis for the S2000. The SSM and the production S2000 both share the same front engine/rear wheel drive platform, unlike the FWD Civic based Del-Sol. While the SSM utilized a sequential automatic transmission, the S2000 employed a 6 speed manual gear box. The Del-Sol shared neither of these attributes.

Besides the exposure to sun both cars provide, coupled with the "H" emblem on the bumper, both cars share very little in common. The S2000 is a true RWD roadster, whereas the Del-Sol can be attributed as little more than a Sporty successor to the CRX (in my opinion). As far as handling, I think one would face much resistence if they were to suggest that the Del-Sol can outhandle the S2000. Magazine test numbers speak for themselves, and I'm certain that the technically inclined amongst us will pipe up with an unbiased opinion.

Again, my 2c

To my fellow posters obviously we are dealing with an inexperienced s2k'er in vtextc. Coming from a JDM master as myself I must disagree with his blasphemous comments.... Just to start the s2k actually has more similarities to the del sol then any other... if you knew anything... first off the civic del sol shares the same chassis and front and rear control arms as the s2k... actually with the upgraded type s package on the j-spec del sol that come with a tighter suspension and better coilovers... the handling is actually quite superior to the current model "us" s2k if you can call it that... in addition... engine wise... with the j spec del sol... its possible with the hatza busabi chip to make increased gains from the civic del sol engine through increased compression ratio of 11:1 as well as a high revving engine that can top out at 10,200 rpms where the whp is 276... but then again all of you ignorant self proclaimed jdm'er can go back to tuning their civics in the autozone parking lot....to tell the truth the ssm model that vtexxtc is babbling about is incorrect considering the car was never even produced for the market... actually if you did your homework the ssm containted a SAG which stands for a Standard automatic gearbox that flossed an umgraded flywheel and rear differential which is now boasted by the current s2000 but the sag was swapped for the sequential manual gear selector that we've all came to know and love. just for the future keep your nonsense 2 cents to yourself and keep your posting to www.ricerforums.com

ps... what do you think amuse start testing there products on?? the company started oout as a del sol-modder not an s2k-modder... so for all you fake jdmers that think the s2k is a better car then the del sol... it is just a piece of japanese bukkaki compared to the del sol... i have both cars and will race any of you ricers in my j spec del sol type r....
