delay in acceleration?

The car "bogs" until about 3500-4000rpm until the powerband slowly starts kicking in. 90% sure what you are talking about is simply the laughable amount of torque available under 4000rpm.

Its heat bog - heat builds up like a bubble around stationary objects, so when you go to step on the gas there's a moment where the intake is "ingesting" hot air from that bubble. If you blip the throttle once it will "clear the throat" so to speak, and the ambient air will be pulled into the car so you won't have as much bog.

That is very common. Like others said, its a heat bog and I would not worry bout it.

which begs the question, what is the use in a car that revs to 9k when the first 4k is useless?

yea i get the same thing. Its wired i think dam what is happening in my new CR. I need to start doing some of my mods that i want soon

So you can drive "civilized" when you want and unleash the monster within on the track or on ramps or when you're passing people. You don't drive around in VTEC 100% of the time do you?
