Im certian you were in the right with this but i was curious. Did you take the turn rather briskfully? This scenario was happening to me often and i had to dodge a reck a couple times and determined what was happening was the moron trying to turn onto the street was not paying attention to my blinker and just basing whether i might be turning or not on my speed. The moron would look left... all is clear, look right see me and based on my speed he/she would time when to pull out to merge behind me, then look back left to make sure it was clear, then start pulling out as the look back right only to see me turning in front of them starring right in the whites of there eyes with the "you are the greatest of tools" stare. I can see it coming a mile away now and the greatest part about it is they always have the nerve to get upset with me, like i did something wrong.

Hopefully you'll have it fixed good as new. In a way it's a good thing the wheel took the brunt of the blow.

Make sure the insurance cuts you a check for the diminished value of your car.

Ya I was thinking like 1500 to 2000. Does that sound like a reasonable amount?
Thats what I was thinking, GL with that. I know that part can be a big hassle sometimes.

The kid who hit you was probably just living his life a quarter-mile at a time.
