what car do u have that revs higher than 8k?
its a 1967 FIAT Dino Spider, twin-overhead cam V6 Ferrari Dino motor with 3 2-barrel webers feeding it fuel and a 8,500RPM redline.

Like I said there are other cars out there with the S redline or higher but I just don't understand the fascination for high revving. Although I do hit VTEC daily, I drove AP1 and AP2 and saw no difference in the motors, yes there is a difference of course but not enough to make me want to destroy my AP2 motor and rev it higher.

i dont get it.

If it were that easy.......why wouldnt honda just do it in the first place?
Honda obviously had other goals in mind.

It's easier to build a powerful large displacement V-8 than a high reving I-4, so why didn't Honda put a big V-8 in the car? Same thing with the F20C and F22C. The goals dictate the design tradeoffs.

Is it worth it going with an AP1 ecu and tuning with an Ultimate on my AP2?

Some people say they dont gain anything, some people do?

How is this setup guys:

AP2 with AP1 ECU..Tune with Emanage Ultimate with FIPK K&N, Megan header look alike, Megan test pipe, HKS Exhaust.. WITH 4.77 Gears? Yeah Yeah???

I would imagine she would be pretty quick? and i know the gears would be the one making it quicker but other mods tuned should help. and being able to hold it up to 9 grand? i kinda think that would be awesome.

But how safe is it? how would the long term reliability be?

if you want a 9k redline that bad, sell your ap2 and get an ap1, simple as that.

Sounds like you'll have spend 3-4 grand and only be slightly faster than stock. Get a blower

A friend who hasn't driven with me much, commented this week that he thought I must drive other peoples' cars VERY hard. When I asked why, he said because between city traffic lights (standard city blocks) I'll let it rev up to 5K or so and hold it then rev down before clutching-in and stopping.

I said, "but it's only 5000rpm!" He said "yeah, that's well into the necessary shift point of most other cars." I realized he's right, but I'd rather not work my clutch to do what "other cars" should.

I love my 9K rev limit and fully utilize it. I might feel slightly more guilty about it if I revved to 8K.

*#&$$ did this really turn into an AP2 vs AP1 thread? I sure hope not I enjoy conversations that don't get closed due to repetition.

Well i really wanna go FI but i already have the bolt on mods Already.

So i figured i could get the AP1 ECU, get the ultimate and retune, and then get the 4.77 gears.

I kinda imagined that setup would be pretty quick being NA

I'm waiting to see if i can just save up and get the dawgon Greddy kit, but it seems like the Comptech or Vortech is better reliability wise. Not saying Turbo's arent. But they seem to have more time to tune.

honestly, its not that simple. sure you can get a tune to raise your redline to 9k, but thats it. you still have the same f22 that was meant to redline at 8k.
