I just got my Gtechpro today...pretty excited. So i took the car to an open space area...the road was flat...temperature around 80 or a little more today in North Carolina..so i dont know about the sea level thing. It was just me in the car, the first time i reved up to 6 and popped the clutch...did 6.1, then the second time i revved to 7 and got a 5.85, my shift to second gear was just average. I tried my best to shift though. So, my question is to all of you that tried the run, am i an average joe or need some more practice?

Dude...you really can't judge off g-tech times...I have seen them be semi-accurate one day and way off the other... The only real way to test your car is to go to an actual track and test it with real equipment. No flame intended...but, I have tried and tried with those damn g-techs and they have never been anything but, horribly inaccurate and more trouble than there worth...just my 2 cents.

Well I dont always go to a track since i dont want to turn my car into a drag car. I just bought the Gtech to have some fun but so far it's pretty accurate i think. I know launching the car like that is harsh, so i just do it to see the result and the experience so i can say ok i did it. I think i'll just take it easy from now on....i saved up alot for it and work hard for it, now i understand why those guys with porches and ferrari's rarely abuse their car. Anyways I did another run tonight this time 1/4 mile...and got 14.5 the first run...messed up the 1-2 shift. But the second time got 14.2, im satisfied...then i stalled at a red light...i think my clutch gave me a hint. I promised my car i wont do that again : )

Yeah, that dreaded smell will give it away every time!

The Gtech is a GREAT way for you to learn about launching techniques, as well as measuring performance mods. I did MANY Gtech times before I got the SC. Most of the time I averaged something in the 6's. I even pulled a 7.x once. I would rarely get into the 5's. My best time was a 5.4.

Drop in a SC, and consistently, even with terrible launches, I pulled 5.4's. My best 0-60 so far with the SC is 5.1.

Without some sort of measuring, performance parts are just items that make you think you're faster. If you can't dyno it, or Gtech it - then I don't want to hear about how much faster it "feels".

Keep practicing your launches and shifting Str8 6, it's worth it.
