Hey - an 8K redline and an automatic?????

Hey Raz, I assume Honda could produce an I5 with the same RPM capability as the 4 - but isn't the firing order an obstacle? Honda has made V10 engoines, right, but there the offsetting balance is different.

Whadaya think - an I5 was an Acura engine at some point, right?:

Acura used an I5 in the Vigor and the 2.5 TL. In this configuration it was a 2.5 liter engine with 176 hp. It had a nice torque curve (long crankshaft I guess), and was only a SOHC engine. The prototype SSM was a 2.0 I5 with DOHC VTEC. I don't remember if this engine ever had an official power rating, but I seem to remember around 250 hp. Honda decided to go with the F20C because they were able to offer the same performance with better packaging.

maybe they used the 4 cylinder so they can cram the whole engine behind the front axle(in order to acheive 50/50 weight distribution). i love this forum, you learn something new everyday.

dlq04, THANK YOU!

That's the best post I've read in months and months. Thank you for the New Year's present.

You're welcome... as you can tell my notes could use some editing but you get the idea. In digging around I found an Italian site the caters to concept cars and they show a Honda that looks like it's 80% 63 Corvette Stingray (weird). No details, at least not in English, and it's unlikely it has any relationship to our cars.
